Why Ignoring Our Subconscious Minds Will Always Be Problematic
The mode of the underworld or subconscious is the most active aspect of our minds. It is constantly active and hidden in the background. Rising up through our underworld to the forefront of our minds come our emotions. They are fixed biological orientations, which shape how our bodies behave, which are observable through our blood pressure, cardiovascular dynamics and hormonal and nervous system behaviour. This affects every aspect of our bodies’ operation. These emotional orientations exist before our conscious logical and rational minds begin to operate. Our rational minds start to work sitting on the sea of our underworld and serve impulses hidden deep within. A healthy practice in our days is to really become familiar with how to engage and explore our underworlds so that we begin to grasp our hidden intentionalities, loyalties, conflicts and intergenerational patterns. Without this we will often find ourselves running in autopilot, unaware of the deeper currents which drive us. Ignoring our subconscious will always be problematic.
