Case Stories: A Young Man with Chronic and Severe Back-Pain
A young man had suffered years of chronic back-ache. He had tried everything to stop the debilitating pain. The NHS, physiotherapy, private doctors, an expensive physiotherapist and osteopath to popular sports personalities, chiropractors, magnetic therapies and other avenues, gave only temporary relief. He was in constant need of painkillers and by the time he came to see me he had run out of options. He could hardly sit and walked with extreme discomfort. He was willing to try anything, he had literally been led to me as a last resort.
He came expecting manipulative therapies, but on his first visit, I scarcely touched him. We examined lifestyle, personal history, his gait and habits and then we made some adjustments to his lifestyle which allowed his muscle fibres to relax over the following weeks. He experienced my now famous spinal scan which consists of me watching the subject walk up and down repeatedly (MRI Scans eat you heart out). After educating him on the nature of the spine and its relationship to the rest of the body, I began to teach him a series of exercises, developed from my practice of Yoga and Taoist martial arts that enabled him to understand how to manage, heal and maintain the health of his spine. At some sessions, there would be massage. In 10 weeks he could walk without difficulty, sit and move around without pain. A year later he was playing football regularly and has done so ever since.
